N-acetyl-n,o-bis-(trimethylsilyl)-cytosine is used as the intermediate of Gemcitabine.
Gemcitabine is a pyrimidine nucleotide analogue, which belongs to anti metabolic anticancer drugs. It can prevent the progress of DNA synthesis in a certain period, that is, S-phase.
